GodotCamp 2025 in Karlsruhe: community, creativity and game development in barcamp format

Zum Beitrag über Godot

On On May 24 and 25, 2025, the FZI House of Living Labs in Karlsruhe will open its doors for GodotCamp 2025 – a barcamp all about the popular open-source game engine Godot. Organized by the Godot Stammtisch Karlsruhe e.V., the event promises a weekend full of sessions, workshops and creative impulses for everyone interested in game development.

Barcamp instead of conference: Program by the community for the community

Unlike traditional conferences, GodotCamp does not have a set agenda or pre-booked speakers. Instead, participants bring their own topics, ideas and projects. Whether it’s a workshop, lecture or panel discussion – anyone can suggest content. If these are popular enough, they are spontaneously added to the program. This open, dynamic approach enables a direct, lively exchange at eye level.

Godot in focus: more than just a game engine

The Godot engine is the focus of the weekend. As a free and open source development environment, it is particularly accessible and versatile. It supports both 2D and 3D projects, offers export options for platforms such as web and virtual reality/XR and is suitable not only for games, but also for general cross-platform applications. This makes it ideal for hobby developers, indie studios and educational institutions.

Who is the GodotCamp for?

Anyone who is interested in developing interactive digital content is invited – whether as a hobby, professionally or out of pure curiosity. Previous knowledge is helpful, but not essential. The Barcamp sees itself as an inclusive forum for joint learning, experimentation and networking.

Tickets and participation

Tickets for GodotCamp 2025 are available for 20 euros. They include access to all sessions, workshops and talks as well as basic catering with drinks and snacks on both days of the event. The number of places is limited, with only around 60 tickets currently available.

Organizers and supporters

The event is organized by the Godot Stammtisch Karlsruhe e.V., a growing community of local developers who meet regularly to exchange knowledge and work together on projects. The camp is supported by partners such as Nitrado, Bippinbits, Chasing Carrots, Talk & Play Karlsruhe, karlsruhe.digital and the FZI.

“GodotCamp 2025 stands for everything that is important to us as an association: openness, participation and a lively community. The fact that we can organize a BarCamp on the free game engine Godot in Karlsruhe is a big step – and only possible thanks to the strong partnership with the FZI and the support of our sponsors. I’m really looking forward to a weekend full of creative ideas, spontaneous sessions and genuine collaboration.”- Matthias Jaenicke, Deputy CEO
