The German-speaking UX community meets in Karlsruhe
It’s that time again in September: time for networking, knowledge exchange & inspiration in Karlsruhe! This year’s UIG conference will focus on the interaction between humans and artificial intelligence. Make valuable contacts and be inspired by lectures and workshops!
The UIG Conference 2024 on the topic of humans and AI will take place on 5. and September 6, 2024 in Karlsruhe, directly following Mensch und Computer 2024 (MuC 2024), which is also being held at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) in Karlsruhe this year.
Artificial intelligence (AI) has been shaping our private and professional lives for years. In particular, the provision of generative AI, such as in the form of ChatGPT, has achieved a breakthrough and further increased the importance and visibility of AI in society. Companies have also recognized that the use of AI will change existing value chains and create new opportunities for AI-based digital products and services. At the same time, the rapid development of AI presents both companies and society with numerous challenges. The pursuit of a human-centric AI paradigm offers the potential to realize a fruitful symbiosis between humans and AI. Following the successful UIG conference in 2023, the UIG e.V. is focusing on a sustainable relationship between humans and AI. This involves responsible interaction between humans and AI in order to successfully implement a sustainable user-centric approach in companies.
The UIG conference promises an exciting program full of inspiring highlights
Workshops on artificial intelligence: The “AI Perspectives Workshop – Designing HCAI” with Anika Piccolo and Franziska Träuble from the Hochschule der Medien offers participants the opportunity to develop creative approaches for human-centered AI. Equally exciting is Marcus Morba’s workshop on “Barrier-free e-commerce”, which shows how online retail can be made more inclusive. Franziska Herrmann from the Nordakademie invites you to explore the intelligence of AI systems in the workshop “How intelligent is artificial intelligence?”. Simone Damm rounds off the range of workshops with “Faster, better, stronger – UX with AI”, in which she presents methods for optimizing the user experience through AI.
Presentations on artificial intelligence in business: Jürgen Angele from adesso, Tim Rietz from resepeak and Maria-Liisa Bruckert from IQONIC.AI will shed light on the diverse effects of AI on business and everyday life in their presentations. Thorsten Jonas from SUX will talk about the convergence of AI and UX, while Mareike Hoffmann and Johannes Nutz from DATEV will share their insights into AI-supported customer feedback. Thomas Immich from Centigrade looks at the opportunities and risks of AI-driven persona agents.
Presentations on the relationship between artificial intelligence and humans: After the lunch break, Michael Schorpp from Boehringer Ingelheim will explain the use of AI for knowledge management in pharmaceutical development. Xaver Bodendörfer from eresult will talk about UX research and testing, while Dominique Winter will address the relationship between AIs and humans. The event will conclude with a presentation by our special guest Ben Shneiderman on “Human-Centered AI – Ensuring Human Control While Increasing Automation”, which will show how human control can be ensured despite increasing automation.
Why should you be there and not miss the UIG conference?
On 5. and In addition to the selected program, the focus in Karlsruhe on September 6 will be on networking, learning and having fun! Here, valuable contacts can be made and an exchange with like-minded people and industry leaders can take place. There is also the opportunity to initiate long-term collaborations and share best practices.
