Happy coding for climate-friendly software
Carbon Hack Karlsruhe from March 22 to 24, 2024
Under the motto Decarbonize Software, Green Software Development Karlsruhe invites interested software developers, development teams, students and companies to the Carbon Hack Karlsruhe, a hackathon for climate-friendly and resource-saving software in Karlsruhe, from 22 to 24 March 2024. The event takes place as an independent event during the global Carbon Hack Hackathon of the Green Software Foundation.
At Green Software Development Karlsruhe, people regularly exchange ideas on the topic of climate-friendly software in presentations and discussion groups. The group is now holding its first hackathon, which is being organized by Karlsruhe-based software service provider bluehands.
The Carbon Hack Karlsruhe aims to bring together people from different software disciplines with different skills to experience the weekend on the topic of green software together.
Aydin Mir Mohammadi, Managing Partner of bluehands and initiator of the Karlsruhe Green Software Development Group, sees this as an opportunity to get new people interested in the topic: “The hackathon offers a unique opportunity to get to know the field of green software development. Be it to learn how to measure the CO2 emissions of software or to make software more sustainable overall. Anyone who brings their own ideas and suggestions or wants to work on a topic is invited. Teams from companies who would like to work on their own application are also invited.” Mir Mohammadi is convinced: “Everyone can benefit from this: Participants can contribute their knowledge and learn about new tools and technologies at the same time. Experienced mentors are available for this.”
In any case, the hackathon offers a great opportunity to network with like-minded people around current tech topics in the field of sustainable software, to inspire each other, to be creative together and to have a good time. And since the event is taking place during the Green Software Foundation ‘s global carbon hack, you can register there and submit your own work. There are many attractive prizes to be won in various categories.
