UIG Conference 2021: UX and the digitalization of SMEs

UIG Conference 2021

On September 23, the UIG Conference 2021 will take place under the motto “Practicing UX in digital SMEs – knowing how!” – completely digital in keeping with the spirit of the times.

Digitalization is rapidly changing the world in which we live and work. Medium-sized companies in particular are facing the challenge of becoming more innovative in their processes and workflows and – more importantly – making their workplaces future-proof.

However, this can only succeed if the newly introduced technologies are also accepted by everyone involved. A positive user experience is crucial for this – and this is precisely where the Mittelstand 4.0 Competence Center Usability comes in. It supports small and medium-sized companies in recognizing and implementing the potential of human-centric digitalization. In essence, the aim is to design digital products and services with the help of usability and user experience – UUX for short – in such a way that they are more enjoyable to use and therefore more productive.
In other words, the better the UUX, the faster the digital transformation of small and medium-sized enterprises will take place.

But how can a positive user experience be created by linking usability and user experience? What are user-centered design and development processes? And what do modern innovation processes, such as design thinking or lean start-up, have to do with UUX?

“Usability and user experience are critical success factors for the successful digitalization of the economy and society, because digital technologies must be usable and enable positive user experiences in order to develop their full potential. With the UIG Conference 2021, UIG e.V. is once again bringing together medium-sized suppliers and consumers in the field of usability and user experience in a targeted manner and providing the latest insights into the state of the art in this fascinating field through top-class speakers.”

Prof. Dr. Alexander Mädche, Managing Director of UIG e.V.

On 23 September, interested parties can look forward to a varied program of top-class presentations and panels at the UIG Conference 2021 from 10 am. Representatives from business and science will talk about topics such as machine learning, user research, prototyping and remote usability, as well as feminist and ethical aspects.

Between the individual topic blocks, the UIG conference has created sufficient opportunities for individual networking, which is often neglected in purely digital formats. And if you still feel like an analog meeting, you are cordially invited to the get-together in the KD²Lab in Karlsruhe from 6:30 pm.

Interested parties can find the complete program here.
