fischertechnik AGs at LEARNTEC: Joint stand of karlsruhe.digital & technika
This sorting machine is a small marvel of technology: On one side, fischertechnik components are placed on a conveyor belt. The individual parts are then transported further, analyzed by a camera and placed in well-sorted boxes at the end of an entire conveyor belt chain. The intelligent machine was designed and programmed by pupils from the fischertechnik working groups of the Karlsruhe Technology Initiative.
“It took a lot of time. But it was also a lot of fun,” says AG participant Yannik from Bismarck-Gymnasium in Karlsruhe.
At 74 schools in the city and district of Karlsruhe, the fischertechnik clubs motivate around 1,400 children and young people to train or study a STEM subject (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) in a fun way. Primary school children can build bridges and cars, high school students can develop complex robots or production systems. At the stand of karlsruhe.digital and technika I Karlsruher Technik-Initiative at the LEARNTEC education fair, employees of the initiative presented offers to promote young talent, such as the fischertechnik AGs and the Girls’ Digital Camps, in which girls are encouraged to take up programming.

“At such working groups , children and young people can get to grips with the challenges of subjects such as computer science or technology at an early age. This allows inhibitions to be broken down and interest to be awakened in the long term,” said Sonja Lambrecht from technika, explaining the purpose of the activities.
karlsruhe.digital and technika: Innovative projects at a joint stand
“Schools and educational institutions from the region have been presenting their innovative digital projects at LEARNTEC for years. Thanks to karlsruhe.digital, this has now been bundled at the most successful LEARNTEC of all time at a joint stand with the STEM initiative technika. This also strengthens the outstanding role that our region plays throughout Europe in the field of digital education,” said Professor Peter A. Henning from the LEARNTEC congress committee.
To enable young visitors to immerse themselves in the world of digital learning, schoolchildren from Karlsruhe were also able to explore virtual school worlds in a LEARNTEC forum using VR goggles.

The organizers of Messe Karlsruhe were also satisfied with the response to the 28th LEARNTEC. With 411 exhibitors from 17 nations and a total of 15,600 visitors , two new records were set in the long history of the trade fair. For the first time, both exhibition halls were fully booked. “The good result clearly shows us that the topics of e-learning and digitalization of schools are right on trend,” says LEARNTEC project manager René Naumann. Numerous registrations have already been received for the 29th LEARNTEC from January 26 to 28, 2021 . The industry show will then take place for the first time in three of the four halls at Messe Karlsruhe.
