To prevent collisions between autonomous\ncontainer cranes and workers in the terminal, the Karlsruhe-based\ncompany Yardeye GmbH has developed an anti-collision system for the safe interaction\nof man and machine. Using\nradio and sensor technology, people and vehicles are localized in real time\nand the shortest routes for the cranes are calculated. In addition to greater safety\n, Yardeye also promises greater added value. The reason: workers\nno longer have to leave the terminal during automated crane operation\n.      <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With this innovative approach, the Karlsruhe-based company has made it into the five finalists of &#8220;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"NEO 2021 (&#xF6;ffnet in neuem Tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/technologieregion-karlsruhe.de\/innovation\/neo2021\" target=\"_blank\">NEO 2021<\/a>&#8220;. The innovation prize of the Karlsruhe TechnologyRegion (TRK) will be awarded on Friday, November 26, 2021, at a ceremony at the Badischer Gemeinde-Versicherungs-Verband. The laudator will be Frank Mastiaux, outgoing CEO of EnBW.    <\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/karlsruhe.digital\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/neo-2020-pb-2-1024x705-1024x705.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4908\"\/><figcaption>Photo: NEO award winner 2020, Jukka Valkama (l), Managing Director of TRK Jochen Ehlg\u00f6tz (r) Uli Deck<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Business ideas successfully developed further<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;This award is a key instrument for highlighting the innovations that come from the region,&#8221; emphasizes TRK Managing Director Jochen Ehlg\u00f6tz. The NEO is awarded annually and has a different theme each year. In 2021, the theme is the successful transformation of companies and the further development of business ideas. &#8220;Alongside digitalization, this is currently a crucial topic. This is the only way for companies to maintain their competitiveness,&#8221; emphasizes Ehlg\u00f6tz. Last but not least, the award ceremony is also a nationally renowned networking event with experts from science and business. According to Ehlg\u00f6tz, one of the TRK&#8217;s most important goals is to bring research and companies together and jointly bring newly developed technologies to market maturity.    <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Efficient fertilization and sustainable aircraft<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">26 applications were received for\nthe NEO 2021, 16 of which came from the TRK. In addition to Yardeye&#8217;s system, four\nother innovations were selected for the final\nat an initial jury meeting.   <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Supporting people\nwith work processes in increasingly complex environments is the aim\nof the XTEND assistance system from Fraunhofer IOSB-INA R&amp;D in Lemgo. In particular,\nlow-skilled and cognitively impaired people are to be introduced to\nproduction processes.   <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\n\nHybrid-Airplane Technologies GmbH from Baden-Baden, Germany, has developed a sustainable flying machine with the resounding name h-aero. Thanks to a gas cell filled with helium , the aircraft can take off vertically and then move freely in the sky in the style of a drone with the help of rotors.\n\n  <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Efficiency\nis the key to the RAUCH AERO 32.1 pneumatic fertilizer spreader from RAUCH\nLandmaschinenfabrik GmbH in Sinzheim. Sensors record the\nenvironmental data and ensure that no more fertilizer is used than\nabsolutely necessary.   <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Rosswag GmbH in the municipality of\nPfinztal has developed new\nmetallic materials for 3D printing. As a result, the\nrange of materials for the modern production process, which has been quite limited to date, can be expanded.   <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The\nNEO has been awarded since 2010.
